A new Caribbean experience aboard Costa Fascinosa: “Latin Soul” begins

Can a Caribbean cruise feel connected to the region not only through beaches and island calls, but also through its music, dance and food aboard the ship? Costa Cruises aims to answer that question with a more locally influenced onboard experience called “Latin Soul”.

The programme will run aboard Costa Fascinosa on sailings from La Romana in the Dominican Republic between December 2026 and March 2027. The announcement was published on 6 August 2026, making this a current development for the 2026/27 Caribbean season rather than an older programme being presented as new.

Why is Latin Soul more than a theme night?

White parties, gala evenings and music-themed events are already common on cruise ships. Latin Soul is broader because entertainment, dining and activities at sea follow the same cultural direction throughout the voyage. The intention is for sea days to feel as closely connected to the Caribbean as the ports themselves.

This gives travellers another criterion beyond simply counting ports. On itineraries containing one or more sea days, the ship’s daytime and evening programme can shape a significant part of the holiday.

Music, dance and participatory events aboard the ship

The Latin Soul schedule includes the “Sabor Latino Party”, performances by local artists and DJs, and Latin dance competitions in which guests can take part. Rather than presenting Latin American and Caribbean culture solely as a stage show, the programme is designed to draw travellers into the music and dancing.

That distinction matters. Travellers who imagine cruise entertainment as a handful of large theatre productions may find a more social and energetic evening atmosphere. Those looking for a quiet, low-key voyage should study the daily programme and event timings before choosing.

Caribbean food becomes part of the journey

Dining plans include Latin American breakfast choices and tropical juices, as well as dishes inspired by Caribbean and Brazilian cooking. Regional plates will be offered alongside international choices in the main dining room, while specialty restaurants will highlight Caribbean-influenced menus.

Snacks are expected to include Caribbean-style sandwiches and tropical fruits such as mango, papaya and guava. Pisco Sour and a wider selection of Latin American beers will join the drinks programme. A Sea Destination is not another port

Sea Destination is Costa’s term for a themed experience held while the ship is sailing through a particular maritime area. The ship does not call at an extra port and passengers do not go ashore; the experience takes place aboard the vessel and draws inspiration from its location at sea.

Four experiences have been announced for Latin Soul: the Catalina Bay Sea Party with live music and dancing, the stargazing-focused Sea of Stars, the White Moon Party with light shows and lunar-inspired cocktails, and the Sunset Rum Aperitif with music and tropical drinks off Turks and Caicos. Exact content and timings can change with weather and operating conditions.

For travellers from Turkey, access to La Romana is the real question

These are not departures from Turkey or the Mediterranean. Reaching La Romana will usually involve long-haul connecting flights. Comparing the cabin fare alone can therefore be misleading: air travel, possible pre-cruise accommodation, port transfers, insurance and travel-document costs all belong in the total budget.

Latin Soul may appeal to couples and adult groups who consider live music, dancing, regional food and social evenings an important part of their holiday. For travellers seeing the Caribbean for the first time, it may also create a more coherent connection between the ship and the itinerary.

Travellers prioritising quiet surroundings, the shortest possible flight or simply the largest number of ports may prefer another route. The programme’s value is not that it is the “best cruise for everyone”, but that it shows why onboard culture and activities can matter as much as the route.
